My name is Alanna and I am currently preparing for the Nissan corporate Triathlon in March.

When I came across the Omara Tri-IT Women's Triathlon I was thrilled, not only because it would be fantastic training in the lead up to the corporate tri, but more importantly because this event proudly supports Ovarian Cancer Australia.

2012 Omara Cycles Tri-It Women’s Triathlon for Ovarian Cancer Australia

Ovarian Cancer Australia is the country’s leading organisation for ovarian cancer awareness, support, advocacy and research. We are a national not-for-profit organisation founded in 2001 by people directly affected by ovarian cancer.

Every 11 hours an Australian woman dies from ovarian cancer. There is no detection test - the Pap test does not detect ovarian cancer so learning the risks and symptoms is critical to ensure early diagnosis.

With your help we can continue working to achieve our mission to:

- Support women with ovarian cancer, their families, friends and carers with compassionate support programs and practical resources.

- Educate communities and individuals about the disease and increase their awareness of symptoms and the latest treatment, research and clinical trials.

- Advocate to improve outcomes, treatment and quality of life for women with ovarian cancer.

- Fund innovative and world leading ovarian cancer research.


Each year in February Ovarian Cancer Australia runs a national Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. We also hold a Teal Ribbon Day on the last Wednesday in February. Teal is the international colour for ovarian cancer.
