Beth is a delightful Year 3 student who accesses services through The Centre’s for Cerebral Palsy’s School Age Programme.

Beth enjoys horse riding with Riding for the Disabled, and swimming lessons. She loves listening to music and dancing, books, "girly" DVDs, and spending time at a playground. The type of cerebral palsy that she has is hemiplegia, which means that one side of her body is affected, with weakness in some muscles and tightness in others.

Wendy, Beth’s mum said “our family are looking forward to taking this year’s Challenge to say thanks for the support Beth and other children receive through The Centre and to purchase specialised equipment”.

Some of this equipment includes leading edge walkaides which are providing enormous benefits to children with cerebral palsy like Beth. This amazing new technology has an electrical muscle stimulator which is worn around the lower leg to help the child lift their foot as they walk. As a result children can walk more efficiently with less trips and falls.

There are many forms of new technology like the walkaides available to assist children with CP, however the cost of purchasing this equipment can be out of reach of most families, which is why your support of Beth’s Challenge to raise $1,000 by March 2010 would be appreciated.
