Empower Inc

Empower is a sustainable development organisation that enables entrepreneurs to build self-reliant communities. We achieve this by collaborating with communities to achieve their self-derived vision for change within 5 years.
Our key areas of focus are:
1) Access to sustainable technologies – e.g. Solar lighting, Solar Cookers, Water filters, Drip irrigation.
2) Access to finance through community banking.
3) Capacity building for farmers (permaculture), entrepreneurs and leaders
Our current country focus is on Malawi where we are currently working with the region of South-East Mzimba. We are enabling 38 villages in this region to self-determine through a collaborative network of local partners. Our aim is to enable these communities to thrive on their own terms and be self-reliant before our exit point in Dec 2015.
In 2013, we launched our expansion to Sri Lanka. We are working with the war affected community of Puthumunmarcholai in the east of the island. We are working on enabling their 5 year vision to be self-reliant by 2018.
