Thank You for Supporting such a Great Cause!!! 05 Nov 09 20:38 PM Posted by Darren WiseBoth Shane and I are pleased to be supporting such a worthwhile cause with our climbing endeavours in supporting the Children's Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, Australia.
We are climbing Mt Aconcagua, which is in South America and stands (6962m) and is the highest mountain in the Western Hemisphere. We will then fly across to Russia and climb Mt Elbrus which stands at (5642m). In a 5 week expedition, we would have climbed over 12,600 vertical metres.
The temperatures on both mountains can get down to -30 degree celsius and high winds are unpredictable and dangerous on both mountains.
These mountains form part of the '7 Summits' which is the highest mountain on each continent around the world.
People say we are courageous to be climbing some of the highest and most dangerous mountains around the world, but we would disagree.
The real courage is in the hearts and souls of the young children that face daily battles with sickness and injury in their lives at the Children's Hospital at Westmead.
Many of the children who are admitted with sickness or injury face fear, uncertainty, stress and unwelcomed pain, so who are the real heroes?
Please help us support the Children's Hospital at Westmead so we can all make a difference in these children’s lives - they are our future and deserve our support.
