To whom may be reading this blog entry. I thank you for taking time out of your day to think of the plight of others.
I am seeking donations and support in order to raise funds for the Red Cross Pacific Tsunami appeal. Having been in Samoa approx 12 weeks ago, and having friends who reside there, this disaster really hit me hard. I thought, what can I do.
The people of Samoa are so gentle and kind and generous, I felt it was my duty to help my fellow brothers and sisters in humanity at this time of hardship. What I plan to do is this. I am seeking donations and sponsorship to funnel from Everyday Hero to Red Cross Pacific Tsunami Appeal.
Obviously, i cannot just sit here and ask for your money, so what I plan is that on the morning of the 31st October 2009, I will circumnavigate Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra Australia on my bicyle, but twice. I have calculated this to be approximately 52km.
If you would like to sponsor me, by all means, Everyday hero is the mechanism that will enable that. If you would like to roll with me, I ask that you make a small donation of $10 for the privileged. My premium for the ride is to not pump it out in a personal best time, but to take it slow, and enjoy the ride.
I want to slow down and appreciate things you normally are too rushed to enjoy - the willow drooping in the water, the bunnies running around the wetlands, the shade and perfume of Westbourne Woods. With your help, I have set a goal of a thousand dollars. Please remember, no donation is too small.
Take Care,
Dan
