I am doing this run for my 7 year old boy that is just about to have his 3rd lot of surgery at the childrens hospital. They are fantastic and would love to raise as much money as possible

Wow! Our family is blown away by the generousity shown by the community. Our target was $5000 and we have smashed that so now everything for the hospital is a bonus. Kye went back for surgery on 10th March. The surgeons did another mri scan and realised there was no need for further surgery at this stage which was great news.
For those who are unaware, Kye had his first surgery May 2006, last one was xmas 2009. All staff are fantastic and we cant say 'Thank you' enough. From the nurses on the Neuroscience ward, the MRI staff and of course Neurosurgeon Dr David Wallace our thanks go to you all. Doing this fundraising has taken the focus off Kye going into hospital again. He has been heavily involved and is loving seeing that total. He is so excited. I just have to run 14.6 kms now which is going to be great. Keep those donations flowing!!!!!!

Herald Sun/CityLink Run for the Kids 2010 for Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal

The Good Friday Appeal is the public face of fundraising for Victoria’s Royal Children’s Hospital. It has provided almost $200 million to the hospital since the Appeal began in 1931. 90 cents in every dollar raised is used by The Royal Children’s Hospital to purchase medical equipment and to fund research.

Giving on Good Friday – ‘that they may grow’ is a Victorian tradition, with television sets tuned in to the 18 hour long telethon; perhaps for the chance to hear a special donation read out, or to learn of the miracles that happen at the hospital. It is all about helping those who are our smallest and most vulnerable.

The great strength of the Appeal lies with the thousands of people from all walks of life, who volunteer their time, expertise and creativity to organise fundraising activities throughout the year.

It is a non denominational, non political organisation that exists solely to raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
