What is the Bash?
25 years ago, a few mates started a movement which has raised $20 million for WA kids in need. How did they do it? They went for a drive.
Often described as a carnival on wheels, the Bash is neither a race nor a rally. This mad cap motor event sees Western Australians from all walks of life come together to experience outback Australia, complete with mystery locations, entertainment and surprise fun stops. Along the way, Bashers present much-needed grants of educational and recreational equipment to individuals and regional community groups to help enrich the lives of WA children in need - delighting Bashers and kids alike!
Dubbed the “Silver Bullet’ Bash - the 2013 event will bring together an unlikely bunch of everyday heroes, led by the legendary Lone Ranger. Participants will cross the start line in Exmouth on Saturday 24 August, travelling through Onslow, Carnarvon, Geraldton, Jurien Bay and many mystery stops finishing in Perth on Saturday 31 August.
Bash major project
In 2013, our Bashers will be fundraising to support many major projects including the Variety Future Kids Program. As part of our 25th year, we aim to help 250 special children by funding 250 iPad communication packages worth $250,000.
The iPad has emerged as an important technology that is literally giving children living with communication difficulties a voice. Combined with assistive software applications, the iPad enables children with special needs to more actively participate in their education, helps to facilitate communication and aid in learning.
