Berry Street Walk

Sunday, 24 October 2010

As part of its Vision 2010 community program, Hodges is proud to stage the Berry Street Walk, to be held on Sunday, October 24.

You can join or sponsor Hodges staff, suppliers, customers, family and friends at 9am for a 5km or 10km walk/run around Albert Park Lake!

In addition to the run/walk, there will be lots of family friendly activities and food stalls to make this an enjoyable day! The Berry Street Walk is all about having fun for a worthy cause. It does not matter if you are a seasoned runner or someone wanting to simply stroll around Albert Park - this event is for EVERYONE. So get your friends, family, colleagues and school mates and join the Hodges Real Estate and Berry Street for what promises to be a family fun day. Most of all, you will be supporting a worthwhile community fundraising event while participating in a healthy activity with fun to boot!

The money raised from this event will go to Berry Street's BEST Centre in Noble Park, an alternative school for young people who have 'disengaged' from traditional education.

Most of the children and young people in Berry Street's care come from backgrounds marred by abuse, neglect and domestic violence, and as such cannot live safely at home. Many of these young people have also been excluded from mainstream education or have 'dropped out' of school.

At the BEST Centre, specialist teachers tailor education programs for each young person to help them achieve their full potential. Hodges aims to provide education for 40 kids through fundraising in this event.

Berry Street never gives up on children and young people who have sufferred great distress and significant harm. Many of these kids have grown up in families where violence, chronic neglect, substance abuse, mental illness and poverty have prevented them from having a good childhood.

Berry Street believes all children should have a good childhood, growing up in families and communities where they feel safe, nurtured and have hope for the future.
With your support we can help to restore hope and trust in the lives of Victoria’s most vulnerable children and young people.
