Become a Queen for the day!

On Sunday, 5 February 2012, celebrate women’s health and fitness with a 5km or 10km run/walk in the Brazilian Butterfly Queen of the Lake at Palm Lawns, Albert Park.

Women of all ages and abilities have grown to love this longstanding event. And, in 2012 participants are encouraged to sign up and fundraise for Ovarian Cancer Australia.

As a national not-for-profit organisation founded in 2001 by people directly affected by ovarian cancer this charity is the country’s leading organisation for ovarian cancer awareness, support, advocacy and research.

Every 11 hours an Australian woman dies from ovarian cancer. There is no detection test - the Pap test does not detect ovarian cancer so learning the risks and symptoms is critical to ensure early diagnosis.

Set up your own Everyday Hero fundraising page today and start fundraising for this great cause.

Ovarian Cancer Australia

Ovarian Cancer Australia is the country’s leading organisation for ovarian cancer awareness, support, advocacy and research. We are a national not-for-profit organisation founded in 2001 by people directly affected by ovarian cancer.

With your help we can continue working to achieve our mission to:

- Support women with ovarian cancer, their families, friends and carers with compassionate support programs and practical resources.

- Educate communities and individuals about the disease and increase their awareness of symptoms and the latest treatment, research and clinical trials.

- Advocate to improve outcomes, treatment and quality of life for women with ovarian cancer.

- Fund innovative and world leading ovarian cancer research.

Each year in February Ovarian Cancer Australia runs a national Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. We also hold a Teal Ribbon Day on the last Wednesday in February. Teal is the international colour for ovarian cancer.
