PictureListen here all you fellas and dames

it’s the time of the prohibition.  The time of illicit gambling, bath tub gin, mint julep,  gangsters and molls, feather boas, cigarette holders, black and white silent movies and of course… JAZZ!

As guests arrive to the "1920's and All That Jazz"  function on

March 3rd 2012 commencing 6.00pm at the Mounts Bay Yacht Club.

Guests  may be surprised to receive their first 1920’s pre dinner drink in a bottle or tea cups but it’s the time of the prohibition and they are now in an illicit 1920’s drinking den (so as not to arouse suspicion of the long arm of the law).

Your first drink could perhaps be a cocktail as it is this era when favourites such as the Martini where born to help improve the taste of secretly brewed gin and vodka. Illegal boot leg beer and wine can also be found.

Pre dinner Gangster & Molls guests will mix and mingle on the lawn and enjoy some pre dinner entertainment with the KYSB Big Band. As the sun sets the dinner announcement will made and guests will taken through to the 1920’s dining area.

During dinner you will enjoy the silky tones of JUKEBOX a 1940’s style four piece ukulele based group including ukuleles, banjo ukuleles, ukulele bass and a percussionist

Straight after dinner it’s ShowTime! with a full professional performance by James Flynn and the Graham Wood Quartet. (Some of the  nations finest Jazz musicians.)

During this time a range of auction items will be available for inspection so bring some extra cabbage.

This modern approach to social entertainment  is all in the name of charity and will raise funds for a common cause; The Beer and Beef Club, Edith Cowan University Scholarship and more importantly People Who Care’s ‘Power a Pensioner’ initiative which aims to highlight the hardships endured by pensioners and the elderly in the West Australian community.

To reserve your seat now and enjoy the fully inclusive great food, great beverages and the dulcet tones of James Flynn,   click on the pay now tab on the left top of the screen ($100 per person, $200 for 2 people). Go on, why not book a group. People Who Care

People Who Care is a volunteer based charity who provide a range of community services to the frail aged, younger people with disabilities and others in need in the Perth community.

James Flynn  and the Graham Wood Quartet are rare Jazz entertainers  who can interpret the beautiful lyrics of standard tunes the way they were meant to be sung.

Proceeds from "1920's and All That Jazz" fundraiser will be used to support Beer and Beef Club Perth Edith Cowan Brewing Scholarship and People Who Care’s Power a Pensioner. (See more information on top link)

The Beer and Beef Club of Perth is proud to support Edith Cowan University Graduate Diplomas of Brewing . The relationship between a consumer group like the Beer and Beef Club and the University is a first in the brewing industry, with Club members wanting to give something back to support the education of young brewers.

The scholarship is used each year to further the knowledge and understanding of the brewing industry.

People Who Care’s Power a Pensioner  is about giving a hand to Perth’s and the South West's  frail aged pensioners who rely solely on the pension and are living in extreme poverty.

Proceeds  will be used to help cover utility costs, provide food parcels, and cover emergency rent for pensioners in extreme need.

For many pensioners this will mean they can turn heating or air-conditioning on for two – three hours a day rather than one, or even pay a utility bill rather than turning the gas, power or phone off. Others will be able to subsidize current diets of bread, baked beans and soup with staples such as rice, fruit and vegetables and even poultry, meat or fish. And can even sneak in the odd chocolate and biscuits.
