7.00am - 7.45am: Registration and breakfast

7.45am: Safety and event briefing 

8.00am - 11.00am: Open race (most laps in 3 hours) 

11.05am - 12.05pm: Family challenge (most laps in 1 hour) *open race riders are welcome to stay on the track

12.15pm - 12.45pm: Sprint competition (fastest 2 laps) 

12.45pm: BBQ lunch and awards presentation  


Sandown Racecourse, 591 - 659 Princes Highway, Springvale, VIC, 3171. Sandown is approximately 25 kilometres south east of the city centre.   


Most laps completed in 3 hours (open race) or 1 hour (family challenge)

Please note: If you don't have a team simply register as an individual. Teams can be formed closer to the event. The choice is yours!

Registration fees  

Individual registration: $180

Open race challenge registration (team of 4): $600 

Family challenge registration for 2 adults and 2 children (team of 4): $150

Fundraising Targets: Minimum of $500 per rider / Minimum $100 per child under 16

 Race Format

  • Teams of up to 4 or individuals will be challenged to ride as many laps of the course as possible in 3 hours (open race)

  • The family challenge is opened to teams of up to 4 or individuals to ride as many laps of the course as possible in 1 hour

  • Sprint challenge - fastest 2 laps


  • Most number of laps (open race and family) by individual or team

  • Fastest lap by individual male / female (open race)

  • Sprint challenge

  • Highest fundraiser - team

  • Highest fundraiser - individual

  • Best dressed - team

  • Best dressed - individual


Prizes and medals will be awarded to the winners

What you need to bring

  • Road bicycle in good working condition (see below for further information)

  • Australian approved bike helmet

  • Sunscreen

  • Wet weather gear and a change of clothes

  • Specific food and drink you believe will help you through the day

What bike can I ride? 

  • All types of road / mountain / hybrid / cycle cross / fixed wheel bikes are allowed.

  • Anyone wishing to ride on anything outside the norm will need formal approval and should contact pedalthon@anzup.org.au

All riders must wear a cycling jersey or for children an event t-shirt (provided as part of your registration). Anyone who doesn't have a jersey should email pedalthon@anzup.org.au


For non Cycling Victoria members, a silver day pass will be issued upon registration

Whilst this is a closed circuit event, riders should remain on the course and ride in a safe manner at all times.

If wet weather occurs the race director will deem if the event is cancelled. If the event is cancelled refunds will not be available.
