Funds from the Care Community Foundation 2012 Queensland Flood Appeal will support Roma, Mitchell, St George and surrounding areas in Queensland’s south west.

After the worst floods in the region’s history, residents of St George, Roma and Mitchell and outlying areas returned to homes and businesses destroyed by flood waters from the Balonne River and Maranoa River.

They face weeks, if not months, of recovery and testing times as they come to grips with the devastation left by flood waters in these regional communities.

In the St George area, this is the third time in as many years, the town has been inundated with record water levels. With water reaching 13.95 metres, over 40 homes and Churches of Christ Care Warrawee Aged Care Service St George (home to 34 residents) have been flooded. Residents from Warrawee Aged Care Service were safely evacuated to the Gold Coast and may not be able to return home for some time.

Your support and generosity is especially needed. Churches of Christ has set up the Care Community Foundation 2012 Queensland Flood Appeal to help families and individuals who need assistance to recover from this devastation.

This flood disaster has left many people in need of immediate support. Your donation will go directly towards helping families in Queensland’s south west and will be distributed through a grants process managed by local Church of Christ churches.
