This week we have had sleepouts happening all over the Coast ...at schools, shopping centres, offices and at homes, people have Given Up Their Beds. There are still sleepouts happening over the weekend.

Most of us have a comfy bed each night but unfortunately there are some people who are homeless or doing it a bit tough and we can help them while having a bit of fun ourselves.
What you can do…….
- Sleep on the floor
- Sleep on the couch
- Host a pyjama party at your house, school or workplace
- Campout in the backyard
How it makes a difference ……
- Each “sleeper” raises money by making a donation, it can be as small as $10
- Get sponsors, ask friends, family and neighbours to sponsor you to Give Up Your Bed
- Challenge your friends and work mates to Give Up Their Bed and make a donation
How to get involved ….
Individuals….. click on Register and set up a fundraising account. This creates a fundraising page just for you, so you can send your friends and family to your page. You can also promote it through facebook and twitter. Your sponsors can then donate online and you will see your total $$$$ raised climbing.
Teams ….Start a team, get some friends together, start your own fundraising page and see how much money you can raise. There are prizes for the teams who raise the most money.
Companies …. Click on Register to start a company fundraising page and get your staff to join in. Each member of the team can get sponsors to raise the company’s team total. Great as a team building exercise and also demonstrates that your company is involved and cares for our local community.

Coast Shelter
Coast Shelter provides accommodation and support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness on the NSW Central Coast.
The money raised from Give Up Your Bed and Zoo and Snooze will help us provide safe shelter for some people that may otherwise be turned away due to lack of available accommodation. Unfortunately there are a lot of local Central Coast residents who do not have a permanent home or bed to sleep in. They have to sleep on the street, in a park or car, or sleep on a friend’s couch. For many it’s circumstances beyond their control - sudden and unexpected job loss, domestic violence or mental health issues are just some of the problems we see daily. Coast Shelter provides support services including accommodation and over 50,000 meals every year. The money raised from Give Up Your Bed and Zoo and Snooze will go to provide assistance to many hundreds of Central Coast people in need.
