Herald Sun/CityLink Run for the Kids 2010

14 Mar 2010

The 2010 Herald Sun/Citylink Run for the Kids is a unique running event that raises money for a wonderful cause, The Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. In the 14.6km course, participants are given the rare opportunity to run on Melbourne's inner-city streets, through the Domain Tunnel, along the usually hectic Westgate Freeway, over the Bolte Bridge – featuring spectacular views of the city skyline – and along the waterfront at Docklands. The shorter 5.2km course takes in some of Melbourne’s famous landmarks such as the Yarra River, Birrarung Marr, Federation Square, and the Botanic Gardens. WIN A $500 NIKE prize If you’ve signed up to be a sponsored runner in the 2010 Herald Sun/Citylink Run for the Kids and you’re raising money as an individual, then you have the chance to win a $500 Nike prize.

The top individual fundraiser as at 11.59pm EST on the 14/3/10 will win a Nike $500 Gift Voucher. Good luck fundraising for a fantastic cause.

Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal

Build a Hero Page

The Good Friday Appeal is the public face of fundraising for Victoria’s Royal Children’s Hospital. It has provided almost $200 million to the hospital since the Appeal began in 1931. 90 cents in every dollar raised is used by The Royal Children’s Hospital to purchase medical equipment and to fund research.

Giving on Good Friday – ‘that they may grow’ is a Victorian tradition, with television sets tuned in to the 18 hour long telethon; perhaps for the chance to hear a special donation read out, or to learn of the miracles that happen at the hospital. It is all about helping those who are our smallest and most vulnerable.

The great strength of the Appeal lies with the thousands of people from all walks of life, who volunteer their time, expertise and creativity to organise fundraising activities throughout the year.

It is a non denominational, non political organisation that exists solely to raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
