Butts on Bikes for Bubs has now finished 02 May 2010 - 14 May 2010 Hi, I’m Toby Clarke and I’m the owner of the EFM Health Club at Lonsdale. Our job at EFM is to motivate and coach people of all ages and abilities to achieve their health and fitness goals. In this past year we have had a number of members become passionate about cycling. Each of these members has committed to cycling from Melbourne to Adelaide both as a personal challenge and to raise money and awareness for the Flinders Medical Centre Neonatal Unit. Many close friends have gone through the stress and heartache of giving birth to babies who have required the care and attention of the Neonatal Unit. I have witnessed the dedication of the staff, incredible courage of the parents and strength of the babies as they fight for survival. Each day, parents trust the staff with the lives of their babies. Having the very latest technologies gives these tiny babies the greatest chance of going on to lead happy and healthy lives. After raising money for Rotary in a ride from Adelaide to Mount Gambier in 2008, I wanted to set a new challenge that would inspire others to help raise funds for the Neonatal Unit. This is why we decided to get our ‘Butts on Bikes for Bubs’. Although this ride may sound like a brave struggle for a bunch of novice riders, we feel as if we will be doing it as a testament to the courage and strength of the parents and staff involved with the unit. We want to succeed both in conquering such huge personal, physical challenges but succeed also in the collaborative challenge of raising awareness and funds for the Neonatal Unit at FMC. You can make a donation to myself or my fellow riders by going to our individual fundraising pages.
