Yellow Pages Cardiac Challenge 2010 has now finished 25 Sep 2010 - 27 Sep 2010 Following Cardiac surgery himself in 2003 for a congenital hole in the heart, Peter McNally wanted to contribute towards improving cardiac services in the Cairns area in some way. The concept for the Cardiac Challenge ride grew from an idea on a return trip from another famous North Queensland ride, the Coast to Coast Cairns to Karumba bike ride, when Peter, and a fellow bike rider whose husband was also about to have a congenital heart defect repaired, formulated the proposal for another fun charity bike ride in Far North Queensland that would also raise awareness of bike riding for fitness, health and fun. In line with the growing focus for more comprehensive cardiac services including, the anticipated public-private model for Cairns to have it's own open-heart surgical unit within two years, Peter approached the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation who recognised the huge potential of such a ride and agreed to partner in this exciting challenge. We all know of someone, whether family or friend, or who has or has had a heart problem at some time! How you can help be a part of this venture and improve Cardiac services in Far North Queensland..... |
