National White Balloon Day Campaign has now finished

Bravehearts National White Balloon Day (September 8th) raises awareness about child sexual assault and serves as a fundraising initiative to protect children from this insidious crime through their education and counselling programs. Statistics state that 1 in 5 Australian children will be sexually assaulted by their 18th birthday.

In 1999 the White Balloon Day campaign resulted in a 514% increase in disclosures of child sexual assault to Queensland Police Headquarters alone. White Balloon Day works. While we have achieved some government funding, like all charities, we rely heavily on fundraising, donations and support from corporations, community groups and individuals.

An often taboo and ‘difficult' subject, White Balloon Day sends a positive message of support to victims of child sexual assault, encouraging them to ‘break the silence' and know that they are believed and supported.

How you can help:

➢ $10.00 donation = preventative education for one child in a school or day care centre

➢ $25.00 donation = a crisis telephone call with a qualified Bravehearts counsellor

➢ $50.00 donation = a one-on-one Bravehearts counselling session for a child in crisis
