Rottnest Channel Swim 2010 has now finished 20 Feb 2010 The WAtoday Rottnest Channel Swim is a 19.7km swim from Cottesloe Beach to Thomson Bay on the holiday island of Rottnest. Participants can compete in teams of two or four, or for the extremely dedicated, tackle the crossing solo. The event is the largest open water swimming event in the world and has become an icon in Australia's sporting calendar, capturing the imagination of the public and ocean swimmers alike. The WAtoday Rottnest Channel Swim is not reserved for the swimming elite, but provides an opportunity for all who share the common goal of striving for the best to compete in an environment where sporting greats rub shoulders with the weekend warrior. In 2010, the WAtoday Rottnest Channel Swim will celebrate it's 20th Anniversary, with a full race complement and additional festivities around the swim. Swimmers old and new will come together to reminisce over past stories and honour the wonderful event they have helped write into the history books. |
