WomenRace4 ... Redkite has now finished

On Good Friday, a group of up to 23 women will take the helm of the 100ft gaff-rigged schooner "South Passage" and compete in the 2010 Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race to raise money for Redkite. 

Aided by seven highly skilled mentors during the trip, including a skipper, sailing master, navigator and cook, the novice crew will work together during all phases of the 308 nautical mile journey from Brisbane to Gladstone.

“WomenRace4…” won the cruising division in its first outing in 2007, and placed second in the 2008 and 2009 races. 

“WomenRace4…” President Diane Halden speaks from experience when she describes the adventure as the journey of a lifetime.  “There’s no other way to explain the total thrill of the trip and crossing the finish line”, she said.  “It’s a wonderful feeling – the friendship, personal growth and a massive sense of achievement.”
