Our daughter Gracie was diagnosed with Chromosome 8 Mosaicism at the age of two years. After her diagnoses, we came to realise the extent of genetic abnormalities in children across Australia. We also felt compelled to start a fundraising site to help fund medical research for children who suffer from genetic abnormalities.

The Queensland Children's Medical Research Institute (QCMRI) is the first specific medical research institute focused directly on paediatric care in Queensland. Previously, key research teams and their programs have been spread out over a number of physical locations at the Royal Children's Hospital campus. Now, the seven research teams and their research areas - oncology, burns, nutrition, viruses and infectious diseases, respiratory conditions, cerebral palsy and online health are all housed in one research facility under a single Director of research. Sharing the one physical space, there will be increased collaboration, use of shared facilities, a more efficient cost base, and a capacity for unified direction and leadership that will lead to significantly greater research development potential of the Institute. The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation is dedicated to improving children’s lives by funding these seven areas of research at the QCMRI so that faster diagnosis, better treatments and ultimately cures can be found.

Thank you so much to everyone who has made a donation so far. It means so much to us to have your support. We couldn't be more prouder to call you all friends x x x
