Spine Surgery for Darcy

Well, we have known that Darcy requires major spinal surgery since she was a baby. And now the time has come. Her spinal curve is over 55 degrees and Dr Rob is going to operate before year end.

Darcy will have growing rods inserted down either side of her spine. These rods will be attached to the spine and she will require surgery every 4 - 6 months to lengthen the rods as she grows.

Its a big deal & only yesterday I met with our therapy team from Montrose to discuss post operative rehabilitation. They will lend us a hospital style bed, wheelchair and other resources.

It is a big deal - and even bigger for Darcy who is excited that she will get her ears pierced as a treat after the operation!! Although - good luck getting near her with a needle after she has been poked and prodded with the procedure!
