Just over a week to go!!

In a week's time we will be getting the car packed and getting nervous about the long journey ahead of us.

In the past week reality has kicked in and reminded us of why it is so important to us to raise money for the Cancer Council. Unfortunately we received the devastating news that Jon's grandfather in the UK has been diagnosed with bowel cancer.

We are only $700 off our target now, so we hope that if you are reading this you either have, or will, donate.

Only 2 weeks to go!!!

What a week. We have had an article in the local paper, Honi is selling aprons on Ebay and chocolates at work, the Shitbox has it's roadworthy and we are frantically trying to get everything organised!!

With only 2 weeks until we begin our epic journey, we are begging people who are thinking about donating to do so now. Despite our efforts, donations are slow, so please, please, PLEASE support this fantastic cause!!

If you donate $50 you can write a tribute on our car. We just need the person's name, type of cancer, and what age they died or beat cancer. Eg. James Bickerton died of leukaemia age 81.

We have our shitbox!!!

It's official, we have a car!

Today we picked up a 1998 Ford Festiva. We are hoping this little car will make the distance to Cairns. It's had an easy life so far, but it doesn't know what's coming it's way!!!

Now comes the fun part - decorating!!

Change of driver

Due to unforeseen circumstances, David has had to resign is place in the team.

Not to fear, I, Honi Garratt, have stepped up and am taking David's place.

I will try my best to keep Jon in line during the trip and hopefully we don't end up killing one another!

Well here we go! With 6 months untill we head off, things are starting to get moving now. With my new co driver David along for the ride we can really start focusing on the fundraising and the challange that lays ahead of us. Our other and better halves have very kindly taken over the main fundraising effort for us and with our planning abilities God knows we need all the help we can get! I know we are very grateful for their help.

So lets break down what were actually doing here. Melbourne to Cairns in a car worth less than $1000. I'm sure it is bad enough on a highway, but through the desert? Hmmm should be interesting. The stallion that will be taking us is a Hyundi Excel (very nice, I know that you're all jealous!).

We have many fundraising events planned for the next few months, including trivia night, movie night and a casino night all in various stages of planning. The first event will be a trivia night. This will be held on the 26th November and hopefully we can really give our total a real boost. Please contact us for details if you haven't received them already.
