Meet some of the Everyday Hero team:
Nathan Betteridge – CEO and Co-Founder
Nathan developed his core marketing skills working with major retail brands, culminating in national marketing and brand management roles with Sara Lee and Suncorp. Nathan was Managing Director of his own full service advertising agency working across a number of business segments, but importantly with not for profits such as The Australian Paralympics, The Endeavour Foundation, Princess Alexandra Hospital Foundation and Keep Australia Beautiful. Nathan left this role in 2005 with the sole intention of building the Everyday Hero concept.
Paul Wenck – Marketing Director and Co-Founder
Paul has worked with the not for profit sector in many parts of the world, including Iraq, Cambodia and Central America. He has held senior management positions in the private sector including Managing Director of a youth development business in the UK that worked with over 1000 schools and charities, improving the life skills of disaffected youth. Paul is also the founder of a cause related marketing business in the UK that specializes in ethical marketing.
Michael Kearney – Operations Director and Co-Founder
Michael has had over 16 years experience in the financial services industry with a particular emphasis on payments and credit cards. Michael spent over 8 years with Visa International with his most recent role as Head of Business to Consumer Electronic Commerce for Visa's Asia Pacific region. Michael's understanding of e-commerce and secure & efficient online payments process is highly recognized, as is his understanding of online and mobile communications integration.
Simon Lockyer – Non Executive Director and Co-Founder
Simon left McCann Erickson Advertising Brisbane where he was Managing Director, with the intention of working within the not for profit sector. He is a founding Director of Youngcare, a charity and business dedicated to creating change in the way we look after young people with high care needs. Simon has also held Board positions with the Princess Alexandra Hospital Research and Development Foundation.
Rem Bruijn – Brand & Creative Strategy
Brisbane's number 1 Creative Director for 2005 & 2006, Rem has a total of 17 years advertising experience. Recipient of the 2006 Pure Cream Award as well as BAD Best of Show for 4 years consecutively, Rem has received some of the highest Creative and Effectiveness accolades possible.
Famous and much loved campaigns Rem has authored include Brisbane Marketing's 'Sleepy little town' campaign, Conrad Treasury's 'Ever Surprising' campaign”, RACQ's 'We'll help you wherever we can' campaign and The Courier-Mail's recent 'Go everywhere' positioning.
Rem has also created much work in the area of Social Advocacy. Campaigns for 'Getting the city online', InternetTraining, Clean Air, Garbage Recycling,'Enjoy your garbage', 'Weed out', the Valley Music Harmony Project and the launch campaign ourbrisbane.com to name but a few.
12 years of work for Brisbane's Hear and Say Centre, as well as major projects for The Mater Public Children's Hospital, Princess Alexandra Research Team, QIMR,The Spastic Welfare League, RSPCA and Youngcare provide a strong grounding in the area of charity. In 2005, Rem was awarded the 'Community Champion Award' by the Hear and Say Centre.
