Do you have what it takes to establish a blog outpost in an ActionAid program country?

ActionAid Australia is searching for an energetic Australian to be our next outreach blogger to give poverty a voice.

Using blogs, twitter, Facebook and more, the outreach blogger will travel to one of ActionAid's program countries to help locals harness the power of social media to secure their human rights.

You don't need to be a blogging expert, you just need to have an open mind and be passionate about fighting the root causes of poverty.

Social injustice and poverty are easy to ignore when hidden from view. The outreach blogger's mission will be to help bring attention to the scandal of poverty. Help us get them there with a donation, made right here.

Project Toto for ActionAid formerly known as Austcare

ActionAid Australia was first established in 1967 as Austcare, a national association dedicated to the rights of refugees. Austcare's initial goal was to raise awareness among the Australian community and government of the needs of the growing number of displaced people around the world.

After working together in many countries, Austcare formalised its relationship with ActionAid by becoming ActionAid Australia on the 1st June 2009, thus completing the transition.

We now work in partnership with over 2,000 organisations - from small community groups to national alliances and international networks - to address the root causes of poverty, not just the effects.

As ActionAid we do not impose solutions. Our approach is unique. We work with communities over time, using our resources, skills, knowledge and networks to strengthen their own efforts to end poverty. ActionAid gives a voice to the poor and marginalised by taking their fight to those in power. We campaign at the local, national and international level to achieve lasting change.

We look forward to what we can achieve as a part of this global approach to ending poverty.
