This fund has been set up help Sharon Price's family. It has also been established to help raise awareness of melanoma and the deadly consequences it can have. Melanoma is one of the fastest growing strains of cancer and the second most resistant to treatment after pancreatic cancer.

It is with great sadness that we advise Sharon passed away at 1.30pm on Saturday 13 March 2010, ending her 10 month battle with melanoma. Sharon's health further deteriorated in the early hours of Friday morning, causing her to lose consciousness and she remained this way until her peaceful passing at the Mater Hospital, Brisbane on Saturday.

While we are utterly devastated to lose her, we gain some comfort knowing Sharon's pain and suffering has ended and that she enjoyed some quality time with family and friends as late as Thursday night when she was sharing jokes and watching son Riley dance to Thriller by Michael Jackson.

Despite all she endured, Sharon retained her sense of humour and an amazing attitude to life right to the very end. Sharon's spirit was incredible, and with her passing she continues to inspire and amaze us all for her courage, strength, warmth and determination in the face of what sadly became insurmountable odds. She was and will forever remain such a beautiful person.

Sharon was so touched by the kind words, thoughts and fundraising that family, friends, colleagues and total strangers continued to relay during her illness. Her story was one which couldn't fail to touch all who heard of it. Sharon wanted to let you know how grateful she was for your love and support. Sharon fought so very hard and tried everything she could to beat the cancer and was keen to raise community awareness of sun smart practices and the deadly consequences melanoma can have.

Sharon's wish is that you be left in no doubt how much your support meant to her throughout her illness. Sharon was so touched to know that we are continuing to hold fundraising for her family and that any future funds will be provided to a trust being organised for the children.

Sharon Lisa Price was 38 years old. She is survived by her husband John and their two beautiful little boys Riley (4 years) and Max (9 months).
