Well it is that time of year again. Time to start training and get ready to run in March.

As always I am running for Rani and appreciate everyone that sponsors me so that Royal Childrens Hospital can get the funding so hopefully no other family has to go through losing a child.

For those of you that are not familiar with our story, Rani (my niece) was diagnosed at about 1 month old with Biliary Atresia (a liver disease) she had an operation to try and fix it but this didn't work. She spent a year in and out of the Hospital and April 2006 she was admitted and told she wasn't going home until she got a desperately needed liver transplant. Sadly that day never came and she passed away 1st September 2006 aged 1 year, 1 week old.

So 2007 I ran for the first time and have been every year since. The RCH is very special to all of us and we wouldn't have been able to get through the difficult time in the Hospital without the wonderful nurses (especially 5W) and the Doctors and Specialist.

So every cent that is donated is appeciated and we all thank you.

Thanks again.

Herald Sun/CityLink Run for the Kids 2010 for Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal

The Good Friday Appeal is the public face of fundraising for Victoria’s Royal Children’s Hospital. It has provided almost $200 million to the hospital since the Appeal began in 1931. 90 cents in every dollar raised is used by The Royal Children’s Hospital to purchase medical equipment and to fund research.

Giving on Good Friday – ‘that they may grow’ is a Victorian tradition, with television sets tuned in to the 18 hour long telethon; perhaps for the chance to hear a special donation read out, or to learn of the miracles that happen at the hospital. It is all about helping those who are our smallest and most vulnerable.

The great strength of the Appeal lies with the thousands of people from all walks of life, who volunteer their time, expertise and creativity to organise fundraising activities throughout the year.

It is a non denominational, non political organisation that exists solely to raise funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
