As we head into Christmas, a time where families and loved ones come together to celebrate the holiday season, please spare a thought for those young people who have no home or family to turn to.

For the 4,454 young people aged 12-24 years who are facing homelessness in Queensland every night, this time of joy is often a period of sadness and isolation.

Homelessness is not just about the absence of safe and secure shelter. Often forgotten is the resulting exclusion from society and the emotional emptiness and isolation this breeds. Young people can easily become ‘cut off’, dropping out of school, unable to access vital services or engage and interact with the rest of the community.

Intervening early in a young person’s experience of homelessness is vital to reduce their exposure to violence and trauma and prevent them losing hope for the future.

The demand for our services continues to grow at an alarming rate and we still need YOUR help.

Donate today and help provide free, confidential services for young people in need including crisis and transitional housing, emergency relief including food and essential toiletries, a medical clinic, mental health services, street outreach, specialist young women’s services, and parent and family assistance.

Make a difference this Christmas by supporting young people, as they work to get back on their feet, moving forward on their journey towards a better, brighter future.

Brisbane Youth Service

Brisbane Youth Service is a registered charity which has been operating in Brisbane since 1977. We assist young people (12-25 years) who are experiencing homelessness, or are at risk of facing homelessness, to find and maintain appropriate housing, address physical and mental health issues, establish successful relationships and support networks, and provide them with pathways to education and employment.
