MPC want to Break the Cycle and raise much needed funds for Health Promotion in remote communities....

In 2018, less than half of Aboriginal people are gainfully employed, 5 times more likely than non-aboriginal people to be living in an overcrowded home, 14 times more likely to than non-aboriginal people to be homeless and triple the chances of experiencing mental health issues, 6 times more likely to develop diabetes and 5 times more likely to die from kidney disease, among many other severe health issues.

MPC Group work in many remote communities that are faced with these issues and we want to do something about it.

We felt that educating young aboriginal Australians around these issues and keep them in the educational cycle would equip them with the skills necessary to gain employment after school and would help to break the cycle of the issues highlighted.

Teaming up with Red Dust, who have been working in this space for over 15 years with the aim to reduce chronic disease by focusing on nutrition, hygiene, substance misuse and physical activity, MPC Group want to raise money to support Red Dusts on going efforts in under privileged remote indigenious communities.

A group of people from MPC’s projects have come together to cycle from Brisbane to Birdsville, a distance of 1,600km, and we need your support to get there and Break The Cycle.

Red Dust Role Models

Red Dust delivers innovative health promotion programs and community development projects in partnership with remote communities.

We encourage Indigenous youth to learn more about health and make healthy lifestyle choices through the mentoring and influence of positive role models in sport, art, music and dance.

From August 24 to August 31 MPC will be riding in relay from Brisbane to Birdsville averaging 200km per day and over 1600km's in total, whilst raising much needed funds for our chosen charity Red Dust.  An acknowledgement to country and official welcome will be held at the MPC Brisbane office on August 23rd.
