The Longest Day golf marathon, are you up for the challenge?

The Longest Day is an endurance golf challenge designed to test skill, strength and stamina. The challenge is to successfully complete four rounds of golf on a single day, whilst raising vital funds for cancer research, prevention, information and support, and advocacy.

If you think you have what it takes to participate in The Longest Day, then sign up today and tee off to support a cancer free future.

When is the event held?

The event is officially Monday 17 December but you can hold your golf marathon anytime in December.

The aim is to complete 72 holes between dawn and dusk on a single day.

How do I get involved

1. Form a team

Invite other golfers or members of your club to form a team. We recommend a minimum of two players per team, and playing in pairs for efficiency on the day. The competition format is Stableford. Once the team is registered by the team captain, other members can register to be a part of that team. Our Cancer Council NSW team will be in touch to provide information, tips and fundraising support to help you every shot along the way.

2. Choose a day

Select a day to hold your event, let your local club know that you will be playing The Longest Day and book your tee times accordingly. They may recommend a quiet day of the week to play, and encourage other members of the field to let you play through.

3. Get sponsorship

Ask your friends, family, colleagues and club members to support your challenge by making a donation to your fundraising page. You can spread the word via your networks and social media. Don’t hesitate to ask for contributions, 72 holes is no mean feat, and often you’ll be surprised at just how supportive they are of your commitment to such an important cause.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Sponsorship could be for:

  • Each hole played
  • Each par or birdie made
  • Scoring achievements
  • General donations
  • Workplace and matched giving

4. Tee off!

Grab your clubs, hit the fairway and get golfing. Think of the sense of achievement you will have once you’ve successfully completed the challenge, and the incredible difference you are making to thousands of lives.

5. Bank your funds

Once you have completed The Longest Day, it’s time to bank your funds. The final cut-off date for donations to your fundraising page is Wednesday 31 January 2019.

Cancer Council NSW

Cancer Council believes in a cancer free future. There are things that we can all do every day to help make this happen.

Every year in NSW alone, more than 48,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed, and the impact on families, carers and communities is significant.

Together with our volunteers, supporters, stakeholders and staff, we are committed to reducing the impact of cancer on individuals and the community, and to lessening the burden for people affected by cancer.

We are the only organisation in Australia that works across every area of every cancer:

* conducting and funding world-class research that underpins our work across the cancer journey
* preventing cancer
* supporting people as they navigate the cancer journey
* advocating to ensure that governments take action on cancer.

We are there not only for those touched by cancer today, but to prevent and manage cancer for future generations.
