About The Big 50

THE BIG 50 is an endurance walk around the Sutherland Shire, hosted by Shire Salvos, fundraising to support those doing it tough in the Shire.

This event is being held on Saturday 26th August.

The Big 50 starts and finishes at the Salvos in Miranda, taking you through some of the most picturesque parts of the Sutherland Shire. There are 3 main events on the day:

Big 50 (50km walk) - 6:30am start

The 25 (25km walk) - 11:30am start

Family 5 (family friendly 5 km walk) - 2:00pm

A family fun-day celebration with a BBQ, jumping castle, facepaint and loads more fun will be there from 1:30pm - 5pm! The Big 50 will conclude with a celebration ceremony at 4pm as we champion those who have persevered, give out some awards and announce the total amount raised.

Where does the money raised go?

The aim of the event is to raise funds for The Salvation Army's Domestic Violence services. All money raised will go to support local services assisting families and individuals escaping domestic violence.

It's a locally run event that impacts lives across the Shire. You can be a part of it! You can walk, donate, cheer or all three. Join the fun!

Shire Salvos is the work of The Salvation Army in the Shire. We have two main campuses at Miranda and Menai.

The Salvos have been in the Shire for many years, seeking to offer hope and life to those that we come into contact with. We have multiple services that help people facing financial hardship, homelessness, addiction, domestic violence situations and much more.

The Salvos in the Shire is also a church, believing that Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. His love is what motivates us to live lives of love towards others.
