Wollongong Event Information

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers in Wollongong, we are excited to announce the 4th Wollongong Unity Walk & Run.

Come join us and take in the breathtaking views of North Wollongong Beach during the 2km Unity Walk and the 3km Run.

NOTE: Wollongong City Council have advised road closures will be in place along Squires Way, Wollongong, due to the Road Walking Championship qualifying event for the Commonwealth Games.  Please allow extra travel time and be aware of the detours in place.

Where can I register before the day and set up my fundraising page?
You can register by clicking the purple button on the top right hand side of the web page.

Where does the money raised from Wollongong go?
Every dollar raised from the Wollongong Unity Walk and Run is used to enable the provision of valuable info line, counselling and other direct services for people living with Parkinson’s. This money raised is allocated into a separate account to the Sydney Unity Walk & Run event. 

Who can participate in the event?
All ages and abilities can participate in the event. Pram, wheelchairs users and Puppies welcome. Please note that some parts of the track may be on grass and may be more difficult to push a pram or use a wheelchair. The registration area is also on grass.

I want to participate in the run, will my run be timed?
The Wollongong run is a fun run and won’t have any official timing or course management.

How will I know that my registration has been accepted?
If you have registered online, you will receive a registration confirmation email.  If you do not receive this e-ticket, you have not entered. Don’t forget to check your junk folder on your email. Please contact the office if you still haven’t received your confirmation email on (02) 8875 8900 if this happens to you.

Can I get a refund for my registration fee if I can’t make it on the day?
Registration fees are non-refundable. If you can’t make it on the day think of your registration fee as a donation. But we hope you do make it!

Are T-shirts available to Wollongong Participants?
Yes you can purchase a T-shirt on the day along with other merchandise. As a bonus to your fundraising campaign you will receive a free t-shirt if you raise over $50 online that can be collected on the day. Please note that sizes may be limited and there is a maximum of one free t-shirt per person. For groups/team fundraising together you will receive a free T-shirt for every $50 you raise. Maximum one T-shirt per person. To be eligible for the free T-shirt you must raise $50 before Thursday 24th August 2017 12:00 noon AEST.

What is the $200 challenge?
As an added incentive and to encourage all participants and teams to fundraise we are giving away 7 nights’ accommodation in Fiji. For each $200 you or your team fundraise you’ll automatically receive and entry into a draw. The more you raise, the more chance you have to win. To be eligible for this draw all donations need to be made through your online fundraising page.
Draw closes Thursday 24th August 2017 12:00 noon AEST
The winner will be drawn on the day of the event in Sydney on the main stage.
Prize does not include airfares or transfers.

What should I bring on the day?
Please ensure you bring water, food, sunscreen and a smile. We anticipate a sausage sizzle after the event and having coffee available on the day. There are also a number of cafes in the area that you can purchase food and drinks from.
Where do I go if I need to go to the toilet?

What happens if I need medical attention on the day?
Please call 000 if you require emergency medical attention. This is a volunteer run event so no medical services will be available on the day.
Will the race be cancelled if the weather is bad?
We hope not to have inclement weather but should we deem the weather too dangerous, the event will be cancelled. Notification will be on Wollongong event page 2 hours before the start time. Otherwise the event will go ahead. A bit of rain will not prevent the event going ahead.
