Our vision: “lives unaffected by cystic fibrosis”

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life-threatening genetic disease affecting Australian children and young adults today. One in every 25 people are genetic carriers of CF and therefore face the possibility of having a child with this condition.

CF primarily affects the respiratory and digestive systems causing breathing difficulties and problems gaining weight. People with CF may need to have up to two hours of intensive chest physiotherapy and up to 40 enzyme tablets every day just to survive.

Thanks to advancements in research and services delivered to people living with CF, the average life expectancy has increased from just five years in the 1950s to over 37 years today. With your support Cystic Fibrosis WA can continue to work towards its goal of achieving lives unaffected by cystic fibrosis.
